A new approach to Hall measurement - NEWS

The revolutionary new MeasureReady™ M91 FastHall™ measurement controller

Featuring Lake Shore's pateted new FastHall™ measurement technique, the M91 fundamentally changes the way the Hall effect is generated and measured by eliminating the need to switch applied magnetic field polarity during the measurement. This breakthrough results in faster and more accurate measurement, especially with high field superconducting magnets or very low mobility materials.

Traditional Hall effect measurement systems (HMS) provide basic electrical measurement instrumentation combined with a switching unit to measure sample resistivity and Hall voltages, but must rely on separate PC-based software to perform pre- and post-measurement calculations in order to ultimately derive the physical parameters that researchers need to know - resistivity, carrier type, carrier concentration, mobility and Hall coefficient.

The M91 FastHall™ measurement controller combines all of the necessary HMS functions into a single instrument, automating and optimizing the measurement process, and directly reporting the calculated parameters.

Magnetic instruments

Lake Shore's program of gaussmeters and teslameters consists of 5 different types - from a small, hand-held gaussmeter to a stand-alone Multi-axis teslameter with touch screen. The measuring ranges vary from 35 mG to 350 kG.

Hall probes

Lake Shore Cryotronics, Inc.'s hall effect gaussmeters are distinguished by the easiest flux measurement, the most stable reading and the highest resolution available in the market today.


Furthermore Lake Shore offers both axial and transverse hall probes with a measuring range from 10-5 G to 300 kG when using Lake Shore's gaussmeters

Lake Shore has a wide range of both axial and transverse hall probes:  

  • The axial hall probes are normally round and are most commonly used for measurement of fields produced by solenoids
  • The transverse hall probes are normally rectangular in shape and are most commonly used for general "open field" measurements

Probe stations

Lake Shore's program includes both standard and cryogen-free probe stations with up to 6 probe arms. Both types are found both with and without magnet and with a temperature range from 4.5 K to 500 K as standard.

Cryogenic temperature sensors

Lake Shore Cryotronics is one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of cryogenic temperature sensors for low-temperature applications. The range of sensors e.g. includes silicone diodes, GaAIAs diodes, Cernox sensors, Ruthenium Oxide sensors etc.

The 4K serie of cryocoolers from Sumitomo (SHI) Cryogenics is known for its large cooling capacity and and for being orientation-free. This is some of the reasons why these cryocoolers are widely used in research and development and the industry in general. All cryocoolers are supplied with a compressor. 

4K cryocoolers

​SHI’s 4K Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers are recognized as the most reliable and versatile systems available in the market. They feature high cooling capacities and compact designs. Models like the RDK-408D2 are e.g standard for MRI and other superconducting magnets and offer a very cost effective alternative to open-cycle liquid helium systems.

10K cryocoolers​

SHI’s 10K Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers are versatile, closed-cycle systems that feature the same Displex® technology found in the complete line of Marathon® CP Cryopumps and MRI shield coolers. SHI’s 10K cryocoolers have proven reliability in thousands of applications, including MRI, cryopumping, research and other customized low-temperature applications.
